A woman’s early collar from the 1840’s, 1850’s time period. It is a study in fine whitework embroidery workmanship of padded stitches on a muslin base. Truthfully, there is scarcely any part of the base fabric that isn’t covered in embroidery all with tiny incredible stitches ~ stitches that form the flower heads and detail of each leaf. Absolutely a work of art.
