A little boy’s Victorian tam hat from the later 1870’s to 1890’s era. This 19th century hat is extremely nice. It is a cloth fabric in a linen / cotton, raised weave, stripe pattern.
The fabric reflect the colors of autumn in a striking brick red-brown background with fabric stripes in a golden rod yellow The same color shade is used for the lining fabric. Between the lining and outer fabric, it appears to be a heavier paper to hold the shape of the tam. A stiffened cardboard between the lining and fabric forms the hat band. A fabric bow fastened with a metal buckle accents the edge of the hat band on the one side.
