A McCall Fancy-Work book mail order needlework catalog. Although the book has no date, the styles suggest it is about 1910. It is 31 pages in black and white print of stenciled goods for embroidery for women, children and household.

Featured are under clothes for women, such as princess slips, nightgowns, camisoles and combinational. Other pages offer collars, caps and sacques. For the infant or young child, long gowns, dresses, rompers, bibs, capes , embroidered shoes and children’s bedding.

Other cute necessities include bags, cases of all kinds, such as hand bags, laundry cases, vanity and of course the work bags for sewing and needlework projects.

The pages are a delight and provide a history of what was available at the time. This book also included household linens for the table, bath and bed.

A number of pages in the center focus on lessons in embroidery stitches. Different types of needlework from embroidery, to crochet, to tatting.

Maybe you would also like the pages highlighting the gifts given for subscription to the McCall’s needlework. This particular booklet, still has the order blank, envelope and a few additional flyers ~ this is another good read.

Wow! 31 pages of fun read and research!

Condition of the book is decent. It has been handled and used folded so does show some age over time. Still intact, with no missing or cut pages.

Here a wonderful old book with directions for making crochet yokes and collars. Old & New Designs in Crochet Yokes & Collars by Sophie T. LaCroix. It is an orginial, not a reprint. No dates but guessing from the early part of the 1900’s.

The book is 15 pages of fabulous lace designs from bridal sets, corset covers to nightgowns. From more simple to elaborate examples it is a real treat to admire these pretty patterns. Many of the yokes and collars feature flowers. One a butterfly. Others are intricate but stylized patterns. Something for everyone.

Even for the age of this book, the condition is quite nice. Certainly not brand new perfect very presentable.

Size is 8″ x 10-1/2″

Fun crafts of the 1920’s included the traditional ones we think of, such as needlework, to decorate the home, but other types of crafts flourished, too. Such as decorating parchment shades to give a lamp a genuine one-of-a-kind look.

The Gatherings is offering two Hiawatha pleated parchment lampshades, still in the original boxes. Boxes are marked with the registered Hiawatha trade mark. Manufactured by Dritz-Traum Co. 258 Fifth Avenue, New York.

The shades are specifically made for usage with the Dennison Scissor Painting, a crepe paper design by Dennison, which as the directions state, even the inexperienced person can do. Each box lid is printed with the complete direction and supplies needed.

Both shades are the same in height which is 6-1/2″ in height. Also included in one box is an envelope of Dennison fasteners for joining the ends of the shade. None in the other. Nice graphics on the lid of each box. Each lid is different printing.

The pleated shades are in very nice condition and in a wonderful color of parchment. Boxes are very decent but not minty.

Please note: pleated shades only are in the boxes. No frames or other supplies for making.
