Under clothing, especially petticoats of the Victorian era, were made of fabrics of lovely colored prints. Cottons, wools and silks, mainly, but other times of linen and wool. Truly beautiful hand work could be found on these masterpieces.
A mix of hand and machine sewing can be found on this floral pattern petticoat from the later Victorian era. It is a flower print in a brownish maroon color. I will not say for sure, but the fabric feels to be a linsey woolsy. Sweet ruffle trims the hem line.
