From the olden days, a fashion doll’s black silk taffeta skirt trimmed in horsehair braid trim. Dating from the late Victorian or early 1900’s, the skirt appears to be home sewn on a treadle machine.
As you notice there are some stitch lines on the taffeta so more than likely the fabric was taken from another garment and made into this skirt. It is a simple skirt with gathered waistband and back opening. No closure fastenings. The taffeta is accented with three pieces of stiff horsehair.
