Victorian silk embroidery on linen square with unfinished edges. The piece is signed by J & M Prufert, Niagara Falls, N.Y so perhaps it was a friendship or presentation piece or this was a company which distributed stamped goods to finish.
Perhaps this lovely piece was meant to serve as a doily, possibly on a dressing table or was intended for another purpose.
