A beautifully hand-painted vintage lacquer box in the bright floral folk-art style of Eastern Europe, dating from the 1970s–1980s. Its domed lid, vivid red blossoms, and glossy black finish make it a charming accent for vanity, dresser, or shelf display.

Hand-painted lacquer boxes like this were produced across Russia and neighboring Eastern European regions during the 1970s–80s. Inspired by long-standing traditions such as Zhostovo and Petrykivka floral work, these pieces brought folk motifs into modern decorative arts. Boxes of this era vary widely in quality; this example, with its controlled brushwork and balanced composition, is an especially attractive
one.

This vibrant hand-painted lacquer box is a lovely example of the Eastern European folk-art styles that gained popularity during the 1970s and 1980s. Crafted in a classic round form with a gently domed lid, it measures approximately 5 inches in diameter and 1¾ inches tall, offering a graceful and practical size for small keepsakes.

The box is finished in deep, glossy black lacquer, both inside and out. The lid is decorated with bold red blossoms and sweeping green leaves, executed in expressive single-stroke brushwork typical of Russian and Eastern European folk painting traditions. The floral design has wonderful movement and color saturation—more refined and balanced than many later tourist pieces—giving this example distinct charm and decorative appeal.

The interior is clean lacquer, suitable for jewelry, sewing notions, or small personal treasures. Condition is very nice for its age, showing only light, minor wear along the edges, consistent with gentle use and decades of careful keeping. There are no maker’s marks, which is common for hand-painted export and craft pieces of the period.

A cheerful and eye-catching little box—perfect for collectors of folk art, lovers of bright florals, or anyone wanting a touch of color and artistry on their dressing table.

A heart shaped picture frame with easel back in society silk embroidery, on tan linen.

Dating from the Victorian to Edwardian era, our ancestors created lovely needlework during this time period. One of those treats were embroidered pictures frames.

This particular cloth frame is embroidered with a scattering of violets surrounding the heart shaped opening. A photo of a sweet girl is centered in the heart opening. Glass covers the photo.

The rectangle hard frame is covered in a fine weave linen. This is attached to the hard pressed cardboard board backing, then looks to be glued to the front. A wire easel is attached to the backing.

Size is 10″ high x 8″ wide.

Condition: The frame does show age soiling and spotting.

An early 1900’s hand crocheted door, doorway, entrance way portiere or window treatment. The pattern of the crochet is a block form with a single flower motif in an off white cotton thread.

It is a heavier weight with a substantial look for hanging. A striking decorator statement that will give an area of your home that vintage decorator look.

This crochet fancy work appears to be in unused condition and never laundered.

Here’s the measurements:
From one side to the other, across the top, it is 56″ long x 11″ wide. It is made of graduated strips, with two tassels on the end.
The two longest strips are 44″long, from top to bottom. Not including the 4″ tassels.
The next length is 33″ long, from top to bottom, not including the tassel.
Third strip in, is 23″ long from top to bottom, not including tassels.
The shortest is 15″ long, top to bottom. Again, not including the tassels.
Each strip is 4″ in width.

Condition: As stated, I doubt it has ever been used. I did notice an area with a couple of oxidation spots from storage. (see photo).

A delightful 1900’s Victorian chromo lithograph pillow top of a rural farm, which is highlighted with an apple blossoms border on two sides It appears some of the blossoms are brush stroked with paint while other parts of the scene are tinted stencil. Centered under the blossoms and above the farm house, is a text that reads ‘UNDER THE OLD APPLE TREE”. The wording is very faint. Again faint, but still visible is a tree branching behind the house. Of course, it has to be the old apple tree.

The pillow top has been stored away for many years and still in very nice condition. I noticed only a couple of tiny spots. Of course, there are fold marks where it has been folded. The old backing material is also included with the top to make into a pillow.

Size of the top is 23″ square. A fun pillow for a charming cottage, rustic or country look. Or if a pillow is not your thing ~ think of framing.

This is definitely an unused antique textile treasure.

Unused condition with snap closure; made in California

Perfect for fall farmhouse, rustic, or cottage-style décor

The design features a large handled basket overflowing with golden lazy daisy flowers, stitched in warm shades of brown and gold—a perfect accent for autumn or farmhouse-inspired décor.

The cover is made of a heavier cotton with the look of linen, in a soft tan shade. It is stenciled and embroidered, finished with snap closures on one end, and has never been used. A lovely detail remains on the inside: the original partial company stamp reading Made in California, Pat. 633, along with a list of colors used.

Victorian 1890 Ruby Red Flash Glass Coal Scuttle Match Holder Princeton Wisconsin

A charming ruby red flash souvenir glass coal scuttle or match holder from the Victorian 1890’s era.

With the trend of decorating with candles today, both inside the house, as well as outdoors, this little gem would hold those matches near at hand for quick lighting.

What a conversation piece, too, especially should you be from Wisconsin or familiar with Princeton, Wisconsin and back in the day, the A. Fishkin Store.

This name is printed on the glass Definitely a treasure for someone and a nice souvenir piece.

This antique is 2-1/2″ tall, at the front of the scoop. 2″ tall at center back. 4″ long from the back edge to the front edge of the scoop. 2″ diameter across the round base. Original wire bail.

Condition of the red flashing is good as sometimes there are scratch marks. At the top edge of the scoop area, a small chip on either corner and around the back curve some roughness of the edge. I am incline to think this roughness is just in the manufacture.

So decorate your table with a nifty piece of the past.
