Vintage Children’s Boy 1900 to 1920 Marx Haas Plaid Knickers In Box

Made by Marx and Haas Clothing Co., St. Louis, MO,

During the early 1900’s until the 1920’s, clothiers selling Marx menswear gave, as a gift,  knickers to good customers after they had a baby boy.  It was a way of saying thank you for being a loyal customer as well as congratulations on a birth of a son. The box above is dated 1916 and contains a darling pair of wool plaid  knickers to be worn at the age of 1.

Printed inside the bottom of the box “More Than A Million Men Wear MarxMade Clothes”.  Not only a gift to a new little boy, but a great promotional for the Marx Haas Co.
