Description
A **lovely needlelace doily** from the early part of the 19th century, this piece is a fine example of delicate craftsmanship. Although small in size, its intricate detail is exceptionally charming. The doily is round in shape, with a square center made of tiny tulle net. At the very heart of the tulle lies a small round needlework motif, finely executed in miniature design. Surrounding the center, the decoration appears as delicate fern fronds, worked in exquisitely tiny stitches. The lace at the outer edge extends the beauty of the piece to the very picot border, giving it a graceful, finished look. The lace at the edge is hand-applied with a single seam, demonstrating the care taken in its making.
