A charming keepsake from The Broadway Department Store’s Annual Dolls’ Tea Party in Los Angeles, a beloved tradition of the 1930s. The saucer is marked “THE BROADWAY” on the front and “Made in Japan” underneath. Cup is also marked Made in Japan on the underside. Likely made by Noritake, it reflects the fine porcelain quality chosen for these special children’s events.
These tea parties were magical afternoons where little girls attended with their dolls and each child received a keepsake like this cup and saucer. Designs varied slightly year to year, making surviving pieces collectible and historically interesting.
Size: Saucer 4-1/2″ diameter. Cup 3″ in diameter. About 1-3/4″ tall
Condition. Very nice, including the gold bands and lettering.
