Dating from the late Victorian or early 1900’s, a silk pillow top cover with an Asian influence. Women of the time period, enjoyed handiwork of many types. Pillow tops or vanity covers made from a group of hankies were one of those popular fads.
The Gatherings is offering this topper for either a pillow or table in a pleasing design. It is made from 4 silk handkerchiefs, seamed together with insertion lace for threading a ribbon through. Embroidered cranes and plumes of leaves set this theme in motion. At different locations. a square of drawnwork is also incorporated.
Edge of the pillow is finished in a scallop. Background of the hankies are a cream color.
Size is 24″ x 24″.
