Now here’s a cute 1940’s little hat that perched on the front of the head. Definitely a style with a forward tilt. Made of a shiny black raffia artificial Racello straw, in rather a large weave. The hat is accented with a black faille bow and a larger cluster of flowers. Flowers are light blue and pink. Original label inside gives the stock number, price of $5.95 and July 1947 date. Also with the hat, a bill of sale from The Grey Shop, 118 W. Philadelphia St., Whittier, Ca. The date is July 12, 1947.
Size: Almost no brim, so the crown of hat is tall, measuring 6-1/4″. Inside circumference is 21-3/4″ around. Hat is unlined on the inside. Does have narrow elastic hat band.
Condition: A small amount of flaking / peeling of the shiny part of the raffia, along the back top edge. Black underneath, so not so obvious. With that in mind, it should be handled with more care.
