Description
A white cotton circular petticoat under slip. Dating from the Civil War era, the slip is all handstitched with fine little stitches. Neat guages pleats at the waist line and two detailed tucks near the bottom of the petticoat. Hand attached bobbin lace at the hem which shows damage.
Back opening has no fastenings and has a short tear below the back opening. I found this is not an uncommon occurance with garments I have had over the years. It could be easily mended.
Measurements: It is 11″ around the waist. Length is 11-1/2″ long. Circumference around the bottom hem is 57″. A very full slip.
A wonderful old garment showing great detail in fine hand sewing.
