Description
A beautiful pair of antique lace trims, both cut from what was likely once a single continuous length. Each measures 74″ long, with one 7-1/4″ wide and the other 7-1/8″ wide.
Worked on a fine machine-made net ground, the design features flowing leafy fronds and stylized blossoms reminiscent of sunflowers, all outlined in a heavier cord for emphasis. The motifs, with their bold presence and honeycomb fillings, echo the tradition of Brussels appliqué lace. Along the lower edge runs a graceful, slightly curved scallop.
Each trim has a finished edge and a raw edge, with irregularities along the top that suggest removal from an earlier textile. The lace has a rich, heavier look that makes it especially striking for display, collection, or creative repurposing.
