Description
From the 19th century or early 1900’s, a lovely bolster layover sham pillow cover. The piece would be quite suitable to used as a sheet return, too. The Italian embroidery and cutwork sham is 38″ wide x 81″ long. Suitable for a king or queen bed if you didn’t want much drop at either side. Equally as lovely on a standard bed if you prefer more overhang at the sides.
The white linen cover has a deep scallop edge border with cutwork embroidery on all four sides. Inside the border are two different styles of drawn thread also accenting the border area. Two 3-3/4″ cherub or angel medallions on either side of the larger decorative center. The decorative center, itself is 23″ long x 11″ wide. Ah yes, quite a show stopper!
Condition: It shows some usage on some of the scallops at the edge. Also, a tad of dark marking, at center motif. (see photo) Although not recently cleaned it is nice.
