Description

Even though these pretty navy lace pieces were removed from their original garment, the pieces still stand as a testament to early 20th century craftsmanship of the time.

Here are key elements of the lace:

– The technique of making the lace, likely Corely machine embroidery indentified by the design being “woven through” the mesh and “ruffy” dimensional floral shapes.

– Material – High-Sheen rayon (artificial silk) embroidered on a delicate silk or synethic mesh

– Quality Indicators – There is one tiny “invisible” snap on a remnant pieces which snaps together hidden in the navy lace

Size of the pieces: One length of 16″ inches long x 2-3/4″ wide. Two other pieces both with cut tapered ends. Length of measurement is to the taper but does not include the taper. One is 9″ long. The other one is 10″ in length. Both are width of 2-1/2″. Possibly from a dress front or neck line.

A lovely fragment of lace making technique and historical study.
